Molbio Diagnostics has launched a new test for differential diagnosis of HIV1/HIV2 that works on the existing True-lab infrastructure and will not require any additional set-ups or equipment. Within 60 minutes, the test can detect viral loads in the sample.

Dr. Sriram Natarajan, CEO, Founder, and Director of Molbio Diagnostics, stated that HIV continues to be a major public health concern impacting people and economies. Since the disease is not curable, screening and early testing are critical measures to stop the spread of HIV. At the same time, WHO mandates that patients on treatment must be monitored only by viral load testing.

The test kit, called Truenat HIV 1/HIV 2, will provide universal access to both early detection and viral load estimation. Dr. Chandrasekhar Nair, CTO, and Director, Molbio Diagnostics, added that for any disease, early detection is always the key to stopping its spread. The first step in preventing the disease′s spread is testing. For that, there is a need for effective means of testing at point-of-care that are cost-effective and have a short sample-to-result time. Truenat is a point-of-care portable, battery-operated, IoT-enabled, Real-Time PCR platform with a sample-to-result time of less than one hour. The platform can test over 35 diseases, including COVID-19, TB, hepatitis, HIV, HPV, dengue, malaria, etc.
